Scientific basis of Nutritional Therapy

There is a growing body of scientific evidence into the role of nutrition in reversing the progression of chronic disease.

A report by the World Cancer Research Fund in 2007 stated “Nutrients and food constituents have effects that can either inhibit several events that lead to cancer or contribute to cancer development, by altering DNA itself or by altering how the genetic message in DNA is translated”[1]

In other words, what you eat may affect your DNA and will have a fundamental influence on your health.

In fact food can be thought of as “information” that has the potential to alter cellular function. [2] This suggests that even though we can have a genetic predisposition towards a disease, the right nutrition may reduce the likelihood of that disease actually manifesting

Food and the nutrients contained within it, therefore have a profound influence on how our bodies function. When the inappropriate food choices are made, there is a negative effect on our health, equally, eating the right kind of foods can improve our health and wellbeing.
